Membership Benefits

The Wyoming Taxpayers Association serves its members by promoting efficient and effective government through independent and unbiased analysis of public expenditures and taxation policies, coupled with wide dissemination of these analyses. WTA’s primary objective is heavily engaged in any arena where public finance policy is determined: the Governor’s office, the Wyoming Legislature, the Department of Revenue, the State Board of Equalization, local governments, education, just to name a few. WTA’s extreme effectiveness in influencing the formation of public finance policy continues to be one of the most valuable services we provide to our membership.

WTA keeps members informed of critical issues by means of:

Our quarterly newsletter, The Tax Roundup
Electronic Action Alerts, including weekly legislative updates

Similarly, WTA provides members with the most current Wyoming tax information via our following publications:

Wyoming Property Taxation – a county-by-county review of state property taxes
Wyoming Tax Summary – your guide to Wyoming state and local taxes
How Wyoming Compares - a comparison of Wyoming taxation to the other 49 states

WTA also has two new exciting services to offer our members. The first – WTA’s Cornerstones of Taxation – is a new “yardstick” that will enable the association, and others, to evaluate future tax initiatives. Cornerstones stands on five measures: Accountability, Equity, Neutrality, Predictability, and Revenue Adequacy. Each category has a series of questions to which proposed legislation or other initiates would be held. This tool will no doubt help Wyoming policy makers pave the road to sensible solutions to tax policy questions. WTA also sends out a Candidate Questionnaire – to all candidates in legislative and statewide races. The results per race are published side-by-side so WTA members will have a better understanding of where the candidates stand on important fiscal and tax issues. The results? Rave reviews from WTA members!

There is no other organization in Wyoming with WTA’s broad view of tax and spending issues. WTA is an active member of the National Taxpayers Conference (NTC), which is comprised of more than thirty fellow taxpayer associations from across the country. WTA can quickly access NTC’s expertise to meet our members’ research and advocacy needs and your dues will help support WTA’s mission of promoting efficient, quality government services.

Membership in WTA is divided into four levels. Just review the services and products you would like to receive to determine your membership level.
